UKIP Councillors' Association
UKIP has experienced unprecedented success and growth over the last few
years. As well as increasing our vote in Westminster elections by a
staggering 50% another huge area of Growth has been in Local Government.
So much so that we now have now formed a ‘Councillors' Association’ to
enable UKIP’s elected Councillors to better develop and grow our
success.
Lord Pearson’s Dynamic vision for our Party and his drive to establish
UKIP as a
major force in UK domestic politics has given us a huge boost. For the
first time ever our Party Leader is making speeches in the Palace of
Westminster and out in the country UKIP Councillors are making this
Party relevant not just on EU issues but on every issue that effects
voters in the UK. We are very grateful for the support and vision that
our Party leader has given the UKIP Councillors Association and to the
NEC for its support and backing.
Here is a snap shot of what we have been established to achieve :
Our Mission is :
To support UKIP Councillors at every level of Local Government.
To achieve 1,000 UKIP Councillors over the next 5 Years.
Improve internal and external communication for UKIP Councillors.
Maximise the number of Council seats that UKIP fights in full
elections.
Build an ‘Action team’ to support target list candidates and By
Elections |

| Objectives and Priorities |

- Target Wards : Identify a priority list of 50 National Wards /
Divisions that UKIP will target in the May 2011 elections
- Target People : Identify individuals nationally who UKIP wishes to
support to get into local Government .
- Communication – external : Establish a UKIP Councillors Association
website, promoting our Councillors and their activities. This to have a
link on the UKIP.org headline buttons.
- Communication - Internal : Produce a Quarterly newsletter for
Councillors, candidates and Branch Chairmen. Produce a page in the UKIP
national Magazine to communicate with full membership. (we have already
set up a closed forum within the members forum for Councillors to
communicate). If you are a UKIP councillor at any level and cannot see
the councillors' section of the forum, please contact Jonathan Arnott
and he will add you.
- Training : Produce a series of training events for candidates and
Councillors / insight days for potential candidates and training for
potential agents. Produce a ‘UKIP Councillor Guidebook’. New councillors
to be given an experienced ‘Mentor’ to guide them.
- Identify Opportunities : Monitor District and County Council
vacancies and to work with branch chairmen to conduct an Audit of Parish
and Town Councils to identify vacancies and to invite UKIP members to
fill these gaps.
- Councillors in other Parties: Co-ordinate activities to further
increase defections of existing councillors from other parties to UKIP.
- Material : Increase the amount of material and templates available
for candidates and Councillors to use.
- Candidates : organise activities to increase the number of
candidates that UKIP has available to stand in elections.

UKIP is not a single-issue party, we have something fresh to say at
every level of local government. Many colleagues from other parties look
on at UKIP Councillors with fear because often we are the only voice of
the ordinary people in the council chamber and because we are UKIP we
believe in Straight Talking!
